Your employer can set down some conditions, but some things are legal requirements.
For instance, National Minimum Wage is a legal requirement for those over school leaving age, but the rate differs depending on your age.
It’s £4.30 for apprentices, £4.62 for under 18s, £6.56 for 18-20s, £8.36 for 21 and 22 and £8.91 for anyone 23 or over.
